Urine samples are messy.
If you’re a man, giving a urine sample is straightforward: you aim (because you can see where you’re aiming) and give a sample. Easy, quick and very little mess.
If you’re a female, giving a urine sample introduces a few more challenges. Females must place a small cup between their legs and try to catch their stream, all while not being able to see which direction their stream is coming from. Catching it perfectly without making a mess is really up to luck.
Tuck Cup was created to solve this problem: To end the messiness and difficulty of obtaining a urine sample for females.
And since men were born with helpful aiming equipment, absolutely nothing changes in how they give a urine sample. Men will give a urine sample as they normally do.
How To Use Details:
Women:
The female patient will uncap the lid, squeeze the cup, and tuck the cup between her folds. When the cup is squeezed, the rim forms an oval shape that can be adjusted to the exact shape the female can comfortably tuck the cup between her folds.
Tucking the cup between the folds isolates the direction of the stream, so the urine goes straight into the cup without going on her hand. This technique requires no additional parts (like a urine hat), no aiming and creates no mess. After the female patient gives a sample, she releases the cup, the cup rim returns to circular shape, and the patient recaps the lid.
Men:
Absolutely nothing changes for men when giving a urine sample with Tuck Cup. They will uncap the lid, give a sample and recap the lid.
Every Tuck Cup urine cup comes with instructions on the lid.
Using Tuck Cup with Midstream Sample:
Tuck Cup can also be used when giving midstream urine samples: have the patient void the first portion of their stream before opening the instructions on the cup.
Why not use a urine hat?
A urine hat is a piece of plastic that looks like a hat, that a patient can use if their having trouble aiming into a urine cup. After speaking with local providers, here are some things I noticed: 1. Urine hats add cost, and they can be expensive. Quite a few physician offices don’t purchase urine hats because of the added cost. 2. Even if the physician office stocked urine hats, they didn’t advertise, so patients didn’t know they could ask for one. 3. And finally, if the patient did use a hat, someone had to be responsible for transferring the urine from the hat into the urine cup. There is always a risk of spillage when transferring any liquid.
Tuck Cup requires no additional pieces like a hat or a funnel, all the patient needs is the cup.
The patient squeezes and tucks the cup between their folds to provide a mess free sample. After the sample is provided, the patient can un-squeeze the cup and recap the lid.

Years of Feedback for Tuck Cup
Tuck Cup has been in the making for over five years. Feedback from nurses and patients, both men and women, using this cup has been collected all along the way.
Tuck Cup is a sterile, flexible urine cup made from medical grade plastic. The rim of the cup is smooth to provide comfort for the patient. The female patient can squeeze and adjust the cup to the perfect size that fits her body. To make sure the cup was easy to squeeze, females from ages 9 to almost 90 years old provided feedback. The cup has to be easy enough to squeeze, while also being able to bounce back to its original circular shape in order to recap the lid. Tuck Cup users will also notice that the flexible cup does not crack or show stress lines when squeezed. These females were asked to use Tuck Cup, and to provide feedback on the ease of use. The feedback from all ages, was positive.
The final round of feedback focused on the instructions. The goal was to make sure the instructions made sense, and the final set of instructions on the cup could be read (font size) and understood. Men and women of all ages were asked to provide their feedback until Tuck Cup instructions were perfected.
